My Polaroid Camera

and a long strap, with a blinding flash
your picture is taken and printed out
in vibrant colours.

It has seen Singapore’s stalls
of delectable-smelling dumplings
and the school camp’s amazing adventures
that put your endurance to a test, all the while
spitting out frozen memories of people laughing heartily
or perhaps striking a pose in front of a statue.

It was given to its current owner
one joyful Christmas,
packaged in a plastic box
the colour of buttercups,
then opened and admired by all!
