My Protector

Lock the door and abandon the key
You give me contentment in times of demand
Even the dark cannot hold off your love
I keep you a secret, a profound mystery
Placed in a box, protected from life
Hidden from voices that whisper to me
Stained by the tears of misery and despair
You help me see the light when it is not there
Passed down from above latched in stories
They tell of a place so dreadful and lost
I hate to think you watched it all, yet here you are
With me today, a treasure that will never fray
But why so still? Do you not yearn to move?
I have bottled myself up long enough to know
That a weight on your shoulders will start to build
Yet here you stand a solder in the light
a protector from the night
I trapped you away, locked in the dark
My memories and thoughts captured inside you
Your silver skin as pale as the moon and as lost as my mind
Their words my soul lost inside
