We were out at a picnic
My sister stabbed her food with a chopstick
We wanted to play
To adventure away
After all, just sitting around made us sick.

So me, Aadhya and another girl
Sat down with a flourish and a twirl
In our “secret spot”
Where it would not take a lot
Of effort to find us in the people-whirl

Later, we came back; quite bored I was,
When my sis asked me with an excited buzz,
“Please can we climb up that hill?
We won’t be like Jack ‘n’ Jill!
It even has a path, lined with fuzz!”

The “Fuzz” wasn’t fuzz at all
They were rocks shaped like a ball
Sharp wire held them in
So that people’s delicate skin
Wasn’t ripped off in a rock fall.

I agreed; but we didn’t want to walk
So we had a long-ish talk
Whether we should climb the rocks
But most of us were wearing frocks
But we still climbed the rocks using a little sweet-talk

We reached the top in a second or two
But my sis needed to go to the loo
So we tried hurrying down the rocks
But the wire on the blocks
Caught the back of my sis’s pants too.

RRRRRRRIIIPPP! went the back of my sis’s pants
When she found out she did an embarrassed dance
She hid it with her jacket
To find out that the bracket
Couldn’t hide the hole; it couldn’t even hide an ant!
