My surprise

The day finally came at last
I waited patiently until…
Beep, Beep!
My dad arrives
“I’ve got a surprise for you,
Look in your room.”
Skipping excitedly,
A box on my bed.
Anxiously I open the box,
“Aahhh! I got a necklace, earrings,
Thank you, thank you, thank you,
I love you dad, so much!”

Earrings passed down from Grandma to mother,
Now to me,
Then passed to my first daughter.
Necklace passed from Dad, to me and,
When I’m older, to my firstborn child.
