I gaze dreamily around my backyard after an insane day,

I can see all the pretty gums that I will never betray,

All my insane energy corrodes away after another sludging, slow day.

The gum trees tower over me creating a warm hug,

I curl up in a ball like a warm bug, the calming serenity filling me with joy,

Now all the bad thoughts can’t annoy.

The gum’s white spots are a kaleidoscope creation,

My love for these gums are a real sensation,

Water on the leaves look like diamonds glistening,

I sit down dreaming and listening.

These white spotted gums are so precious,

We are just tearing them down because we are jealous,

These sacred gums can still re-grow and revive,

We just have to let them live and strive.

Guringai’s animals used to live here, they used to sing,

Back then the echoes in through the trees would ring,

We can still give our sacred home a second chance,

We just have to be engrossed with nature and enhance.

The gums are my home, the gums are my place,

If only I could run away and stay in this calm space.
