The trees of green, the flowers of honey.

Time bears fruit and the tree begins to carefully lean,

As the animals begin to gather.

The birds of the rainbow,

The kangaroos are shades of the Earth.

The emus of silver and gold,

The koalas of grey and wisdom.

The goannas of rust rest in the rays of sun,

As the sun smiles a goodbye,

And the moon yawns a hello.

The gums of ash shush the animals below,

And the possums play in their playgrounds.

A crackle and pop and a crash,

A wave of heat hits them like lightning.

The blazing flames,

Viciously tear through the bush.

The animals run, dig, crawl, and fly, nothing can help them – but us,

The ashes of animals and life are scattered everywhere.

A stream of life – a colour of green,

A flicker of hope.
