Not Just Some Guava Trees

A farm,
A place my mother’s uncle had owned,
Grew guava trees,
The only guava trees my mother had known.
She grew with these trees,
They grew too,
Her childhood with them,
Their adulthood dedicated to you.
She laughed with her sisters,
Sitting on these trees,
Picking off guava fruit,
And eating with ease.
This nature owns a piece,
Of my mother’s heart,
And we must save
These trees that played a part.
She has a right to this nature,
The nature that made her who she is,
She will help save it,
Because this nature has a right to live.
