Ocean Rays

Cocooned in the ocean,

Completely at peace.

Sand, fish submerged below.

Seagulls, sun above.

Crashing, whirling, wonderful waves

Spraying saturated salt onto my face

Splash! I dive underneath

Escaping the world to water and reefs

Coldness chills my back

I open my eyes

And suddenly the sun is gone

I look up

And see a stingray

Rhythmically swimming through the water above

My mouth curves,

Feet pushing me sideways then

Up, up, up

Face bursting the surface

I breathe in the salty air

and relax…..
