Oceans secret

The ocean mirrors the fading sunlight over the waves that are slowly growing bigger,
It looks so appetizing and warm, nothing better than a solitary summer night swim.
The ocean looks at me, almost beckoning that I come in the water, the sun slowly becoming less visible,
Walking in, the pressure of the waves, crashing against me, straight to the tender bone.
A bonfire is lit on the sand as the smell comes rushing to me like striking lightning,
In a few deep breaths, I go under the wave feeling all my stress wash away with it,
The ocean is my happy place, nowhere else can captivate me like the peaceful water does.
Seagulls fly above me, and trees sway left to right dancing with the wind.
Even with the water so clear, a secret lies deep down below the ocean,
My head gazes over the water to a green string floating further into the ocean bobbing up and down.
I go for another dive, opening my eyes; under the wave, I see a plastic bottle here and another over there,
I notice rusting, fragile and sharp plastic make its way further into the ocean, closer to the marine life.
Sometimes I wonder why people do this when we can use metal water bottles or the nearby rustic black bins.
Slowly I creep out of the water avoiding the plastic wrap on the shore, the sand is hot and dry under my feet.
I’ve been a child of the ocean my whole life and seeing my second home being destroyed has an effect on me,
I feel like I’m being stabbed in the heart, that I’m being frozen and someone’s tangling my organs.
