Pulling the shoe onto my foot, pushing over the block
I tie the ribbons in the familiar pattern,
It has only been two years, but these shoes feel like home

I stand up, and balance on pointe,
I feel the energy and adrenaline rush through me,
All the way to my toes

I can't stay still,
I love to move
Even when I sit down to relax and have a break,
I find myself dancing anyway

I can feel the shoes beneath me,
I am told to pull up through my legs,
But I know the shoes are doing all the work,
The shoes that make me feel free

Theses shoes feel like home,
Though it has only been two years
I untie the ribbons in the familiar pattern
I come off the block, and pull off the shoe
