Only on a Special

On a silver chain, it shines,
Brighter than the moon at night
Only to be worn on special days,
As the moonstone on the end reflects light,
However, some people do say,
That light's the only thing it reflects
Light coming in from the sun,
The chiming colours 'round my neck,
Small parts of rust spot here and there,
Only a little on parts of the chain
My moonstone necklace's a wonder,
However, I hope it doesn't rust again,
Passed down from generations before,
Grandmother to granddaughter for eternity,
Cherished by all past, present and future
All ancestors, descendants and me,
The pendant, I now keep it safe,
Like if you had it you may,
I keep it safe in a locked cabinet,
Only to be taken out on a special day.
