Dirty but small,
Rare but used to be everywhere,
A round piece of bronze,
Was crafted into a half penny.

In the time of King George V,
His face on the back of the Australian coin.
It would have been used,
A long time ago,
But now,
Its kept safe in a box,
Like it has been for the last sixty years.

To me it’s worth much more,
Then a half penny,
It was my great grandfathers,
Maybe it will last another century,
Hopefully it will be my great grandsons.
