Pearl

Water was glowing, blue as a gemstone,
a blinding light made my head flash away.
I reached out hoping it could be my own,
‘Creak’, the clam shell opened like a pathway.
Broken mask as water flows through my nose,
My fins gliding as the perfect pearl shone.
The adrenaline oozed through my toes,
Fish were gone quicker than they came upon.
My fingers slowly curled around the pearl,
Clam shell snapped like a piece of shattered glass.
‘Swoosh,’ I tread water making it whirl.
The pearl was white balloons guarding my pass.
Toes as cold as ice, want it in my hand.
Not to fear, there’s more in this great wide land.
