Platypus Tears

Water ripples as he glides
His wet body falls over the rough rocks as he slides
The elusive figure is hard to catch
Is rarely seen in the same patch
Water ripples as he glides
He ducks behind a log to hide
For fear of humans has begun
But in a river you can’t run
Water ripples as he glides
When you are in water it is hard to spot when he cries
For in the water tears fade away
Like night turning into day
Water ripples as he glides
Fear is always lingering
Always trying to get in
A battle you are forever trying to win
Humans are like wildfire spreading uncontrollably
Now my species and many other will have to pay the price
Now the younger generation must take action
To ensure this doesn't happen twice
