Poaching Predicament

Mahogany eyes see through a varnish
Of priceless pelts to ivory garnish
Food chains severed, equilibrium no longer
Pay safeness no heed, living over yonder.
Clenched steel mouths, take victims for days
Poachers apparent overappraise.
Shotguns aimed along the sunny hearth
Make it clear that this is no place for birth.
A hundred elephants in Africa each day
Are poached to nirvana, bodies astray.
Parenthood solace, taken away
Replaced by a solstice, of mourning the day.
Contrived into circuses, labs, and zoos
Cursed with the knowledge that one day they’ll lose
The roulette of life; maltreatment infused.
Society turns, blind, to the scapegoats
Of skulls and fur, death impure.
So speak out with conviction
To affix our derelictions, enforce the world's regime
To assist this convolution, words like gasoline.
