I have changed her
Distorted her
Her face now fading away but never away from my heart
Ever lasting teddy

There was a time when we went for walks,
me the mummy, pushing her in my baby's buggy.
But with each strong, meaningful hug
squishing her till her head fell off
Resewn on by a loving, tender mother
Not me, but mine
Her smiling mouth would’ve laughed

Now perched at the top of my bookcase,
The once perfect clothes worn with love, time and adventures
She is ragged royalty,
In a grass green dress and candy cane shirt
fluttery butterfly flutters in the corner

The cuddly, warming artifact
Was once my best friend
