Rain

A fortress of grey
Made by a thousand
Shards of glass
Meander from sky
An elegant dance
The pounding of dirt
No rhythm, no pattern
Just the endless thrumming
Upon the skin of the Earth
A million half hearts
Destined for nothing
Freefalling, sky diving
Then quick painless death
So many, So sudden
That wherever they land
Whatever life they change
Whatever world they save
They are always forgotten
