Red Wings

Tall skinny trees, emerald green patchy grass and sapphire sky.
A small scarlet robin scampers through the shrubs,
under the shade of the gumtrees.
Looking for its feed.
l watched with anticipation wondering if the robin would catch its meal.
In my mind the scene looked like a painting.
The perfectly sketched clouds moved through the sky,
While the orange tinted trees and the patchy green ground;
Perfectly contrasted with the robin's scarlet red and greyish underbelly.
Eucalyptus scent and a warm breeze flows through the air and enriches
the moment.
Then the sun drifts behind the clouds and the sky turns a watermelon pink.
I hear a gentle snapping of a twig and see a flash of red dash through the sky.
The bird has flown off, satisfied.
I too was satisfied, not with its catch,
but witnessing the beauty of the Scarlet Robin.
