The honeyeater soars like a hawk

With the beauty of a thousand gum trees.

It perches on the tallest branch,

Wings shining in the light.

The pounding sun beats down on us

With the scent of lemon gum in the air.

Gazing down, the regent honeyeater flies

Out of my house, out of my yard.

Its feathers are the glow of the sun,

But at the same time, as dark as night.
