Round It Goes The Merry-Go-Round

The sound is divine,
It has a beautiful design,
The sound is peaceful,
It makes me feel wishful.
It was given to me,
The sound makes me feel free,
It takes me to my happy place,
It gives me a room full of space,
The sound rings in my ear.
He said my dear,
Take this beautiful merry-go-round,
And play its beautiful sound,
I’ll see you soon he said,
So I went to bed,
Falling asleep to its blissful sound,
I wasn’t ready for what was ahead.
I woke up to the smell of smoke,
Which caused me to choke,
I ran outside,
And I cried.
My mother came running to me,
With tears in her eyes,
There was smoke in the skies,
And sirens nearby,
It was all getting to my head,
All I could feel was dread.
There were screeches in my ear,
It made me shed a tear,
There was a rumour that someone was dead,
My face just turned red.
My eyes just blurred,
I heard them say,
My father had passed,
But I just ran fast,
Wind in my eyes,
It caught me by surprise,
I fell to the ground,
But then I felt myself rise,
I could hear my heart pound.
Hand in hand,
My mother was there,
She said I swear,
I’ll always be there.
While all this was happening my mind was racing,
I just started pacing,
My inner thoughts,
Took over my mind.
Why does the world hate me?
All I could see,
Was the blur of the horizon,
My mother calmed me down,
And she picked me up off the ground,
She handed me the merry-go-round,
And played its song.
I knew I had to be strong,
So I went along.
She took me back,
To where it all started,
I felt parted.
I hugged my sister,
And I kissed her on her head,
I said it’ll be alright,
I’ll always keep you in my sight.
From that day on,
I vowed to protect her.
I gave her my precious merry-go-round,
And let her sleep softly,
Draining the beautiful sound of the merry-go-round,
Into her ear.
Sleep well my dear,
For your angel is near.
