Eyes, their remaining glisten lingering,
fading under the sleepy sun.
Ears, no longer listening,
for their work is nearly done.
Her matted fur howls for attention
and desires to be caressed.
She whispers in the twilight,
To the streaks of glorious moonlight
escaping through the rusty shed.

Beneath the innocent choco-coloured nose,
Deep within the cushion-stuffed soul,
Her latent abilities- Perceptiveness, Persistence and Patience,
Once enchanted by a little human girl,
Come to wake as she waits and waits and waits…
As if time itself, was immune to her charms
Neglect and dust, to her, was of no harm.
She longed for another story.
Never tiring her unique tales of “Happily Ever After”

Until the long-awaited person came.
And she pitifully realised that, by then, she was way too old for this game
Of childhood fantasies.
