Seashell

Left behind,
No longer needed.
It lies upon the white sand carpet
Of the beach.
Sparkling, glittering, shining,
In the sunlight.
Too soon it will be swept out to sea,
By waves that lick the coast away.
The carrier of the ocean's song gone.
Yet the sun and moon and stars
Will continue to light the beach
For an infinitude.
