There is a species

that only I can see

hidden in the depths of the Daintree Rainforest.

Leaping up. Then down. Then up again

they play in the lakes and streams

splashing the crocodiles

then sprinting onto the King Ferns like a lightning bolt.

The Red Cedar tree is a wise old man guiding them through their journey.

Mossy, slippery grey rocks jut out of the water

creating little stepping stones

for my miniscule creatures.

Green Tree Frogs wave at them

inviting these little things for a ride.

Bouncing high and low on the frog's back

but when they see me they all jump off

and instead clamber over me.

These energetic creatures are just for me.
