Seed Pod

Crack, crack, crack
Dislodged and stripped from my home
My tree
Caw, caw, caw
They laugh and giggle at me
Those crazy unfeeling cockatoos
Who wish my little seeds to be their next meal
Whoosh
Falling from my tree
Weighed down with troubles like prey
About to be devoured
I wish to be as light as a feather floating carelessly to the ground
But I am as heavy as 500 elephants piled on top of each other
I wish for my tree
But I am never to see it again
SMACK!
I land on the hard leaf covered ground
Lonely and camouflaged against the grass
Hands reach towards me and grab my rough skin
My seeds are encased inside of me
The eyes of a strange creature cannot see them
They are protected
They are like treasures in a casket unseen until the casket is opened
This creature takes me to her family
I am filled with an unbearable longing for my tree
But I shall never see it again
Never, ever
