Our tall elegance swoops down on the smaller insignificant objects,
Hovering annoyingly at our feet.
Some say our looks are calm, lofty and poised in a way that no other creature can secure.
Although our rich chocolate coloured eyes, it is said, could melt a frozen slab of butter,
Our demeanour is sophisticated, mature, our emotions refined.
We may seem pompous, grand and self-important, selfish and… and human.
But that’s absurd
Our emotions were lost, concealed behind a tightly locked door.
Locked away, the key long lost in human translation.
And so we say
We are the greatest,
We are the giraffes.
