Stone II

A darkened, even heart
Buried, cold and split
Embedded in the earth
Under the sky, sunshine-lit
The earth’s fractured bone
A tomb of whispers
Hushed, reticent tones
Suppressed deep in its fissures
Warmth long expired
Cold now in place
Held once again
An overdue, sought embrace
