Storm

A normal day on the farm
We go to bed early after having a good day of work
Rounding up the cattle, checking the crops
But tonight, there’s going to be a show
The almighty crack!
The thunderous roar!
The wondrous whack!
As it hits the floor
You take time to wonder
Such a magical event
you sit in your bed
And watch as nature takes its course
The splutter of raindrops
On a galvanized roof
The leaky gutters
Go drip, drip, drip
The whistling winds
Gush through the windows
The horrid sound
Like a ghostly hallow
You watch outside
As the clouds turn black
They’re dark and scary
Like the dark night.
The white flash of light
Like Zeus’s lightning bolt
Who everyone fears
Just like how everyone fears the dark.
Homes will be destroyed
Like the ancient ruins
That have only been found today
But where built millions of years ago
Nowadays the world is different
We are so stuck on our phones
That we don’t know what’s happening
Outside our own windows
Some cower under there sheets
Yet they don’t see its amazement
As nature takes its course
Right outside our windows
The clouds are like marshmallows in a
Hot cup of cocoa
All dark and brown
Yet we still fail to see its beauty
As the wind calms down
The fires will start
The cattle are starting to come out of the cover of the trees
The show has ended, with time to get to sleep
