Cold Little Leaf
In the middle of the forest
Snuggles up tight
With the other little leaves.
Mama and Papa Leaf curl up around them,
Hiding them from the lightning
That flashes all around
Like fireworks overhead.
Little Leaf peeks out between the trees,
Watching raindrops bouncing on the soil
   Like on a trampoline.
She hears the booming drums of thunder
Louder than a tiger's roar,
And, scared, creeps back in
To the warmth of her Mummy's cuddles,
Loved.
