Stricken

Nature’s beauty struck by the will of man,

What once was there unable to withstand,

How humanity has stolen earth’s land.

For reasons unknown, we can’t understand.

What of the animals, where is their home?

We tried to play God, it’s all a façade,

Forest gone, a teen devoid of their phone.

Creatures lost; their habitat betrayed.

Have we all lost our conscience too late?

Or is it possible to heal this earth,

Put humanity’s thoughts on a clean slate.

Loosen our grip and let our trees rebirth.

We learn that from nature we shall not take.

Open your eyes, for earth’s sake, awake!
