Strings,
Tightly woven strings
Rows upon rows of strings
I push down
One hammer emerges,
it hits a string
A ringing cheerful sound
But it stops too soon,
Keys,
Black and white keys
Rows upon rows of keys
I push down three at a time
C, E, G
The chord rings out happy to be played
I push down again
A, C, E
Again, again and again
My heart pouring out and into the music
The notes fulfilling its purpose
My piano and I in perfect harmony again.
