Super Special Sugar Gliders

I’m a sugar glider, I’m a very good hider.

Sitting in a tree, I’m as happy as can be,

Drinking nectar with my joey, it’s really oh so cozy.

But then I hear a crash, and see a big bright flash

The predators are here, their eyes on us like a spear.

I’m losing my family, nature is our sanctuary.

Will I wake up tomorrow? Please have sorrow.

Let’s stop the bushfires, we’re as special as sapphires.

I pollinate native flowers, we have many special powers.

I’m quite intelligent and my gliding is super elegant.

With every storm and every drought, my families sink deeper into doubt.

Don’t hurt our home please leave us alone.

Stop destroying my habitat, sometimes I get mistaken for a bat.

There's no time to celebrate, come help my species regenerate.

Can you build me a house, remember I'm not much bigger than a mouse.

Come plant a crimson bottlebrush, they’re so tasty I’ll turn them into mush.

Build a house, plant some flowers and you too will get special powers.
