Scars left in places
Reminders of happy times
Very first friend, we met at the hospital
Everywhere I’ve been, so has he
Queensland, Fiji and Italy
Greece, France, Turkey and Spain

He watched what I watched
Mr. Whiskers, Play School, Spongebob and The Simpsons
He never complained
Not once
Not even when I would get angry
And throw him at my brother

Black eyes, with kindness behind them
Fur the colour of chocolate, wearing away
My valued companion
Slept with every night
Disinfected once after dropping in the toilet
Scent of sleep, of bed, medicine and me
Mostly he smells of Teddy, of a love to be trusted
My Ted, My Friend
