As I walk through the bush I feel calm, connected

I take a deep breath and inhale my surroundings

I smell wrinkled brown bark,

The fresh scent of gum leaves,

Growing green grass

I look around, I see tall, strong, sturdy trees looking down at me like skyscrapers,

Sunlight shining through the gaps between the leaves at the very top of the trees

The sound of cockatoos laughing, sitting up high in the tall tree

I hear the distant sound of cows mooing

I humm a quiet tune and close my eyes,

A cool breeze blows through my hair

I feel joyful as I stand in my special place

I never want to leave

If I could I would stay here forever

Waking up to the sound of kookaburras squawking,

Singing songs and dancing around the comforting camp fire,

All the fun I’ve had,

All the memories I’ve got of running through the bush,

Always with a smile on my face

This is my special place.
