Scratched onto a tree
On their very first date
I watched in the form of an arrow-pierced heart
There was only love and no loathing no, hate.
As time went on and on,
I gradually grew and grew
It represented their long-lasting love
And wasn't only for show.
But, as soon as winter touched down,
They’d argue for hours on end.
They’d scream and shout and yell it all out
And their relationship began to descend.
As winter raged on
They continued to fight
The white innocent dove that was their love
Had begun to take its flight.
As soon as the spring kicked off
The bark began to grow ‘round me
I faded and faded, hidden by the tree
And love, no longer was meant to be.
