After creating herself out of primordial chaos
All life sprang from Gaia, the Mother Earth
A woman of heavenly essence and altruistic manner
Seated between the properly divine and the human
She constructed the plundering waves that curl onto the shore
The vivacious birds that sing to signify another day
The sturdy stems that uphold the satin leaves
Evolving into the unveiling of a hued gem
Her beauty is reflected in the sharp rays of sunlight
That illuminate the chiselled raindrops which lay upon the canopies
But one of her creations has betrayed her
Emitting black smoke into her lucid lungs and filling her ponds with poison
Annihilating the alpine trees and slicing the roots which merge with Gaia’s veins
They craved her hidden jewels, so they pierced her heart and seized them
And so she cried. And cried. Until her tears turned to acid
As if Hades had escaped the underworld and was reigning terror on her land
She knows her daring creatures are simply just wondrous of her work
But the chaos will endure, and the beauty of Gaia will be forever forgotten
Forever lost in the cosmos
Watching helplessly as her body turns rotten
