The Day of the Kookaburra

Furry bird
Swooping down
With colours
White, blue, and brown.
Always calling
To protect their land,
Standing tall
And impressively grand.
We are still sleeping
When the sun is rising into the sky,
The birds come and sing to us
Just before they go and fly.
When they are resting,
Vicious predators try to snatch their food,
But they will squawk
To change their mood.
The day slowly draws away,
We hear laughter in the sound they make.
Just before we go to bed,
The Kookaburra moves and wakes.
