In Western Australia the dibbler is found,
a rare marsupial that burrows in the ground.
Living in the shrublands, the animal you may find,
an endangered creature we can’t leave behind.
Its colours are coarse, brown and grey,
their natural hues show a magical display.
Built like a mouse, small and petite,
its tiny, small body, the sight, it’s so sweet.
Grasshoppers, beetles and termites as food,
spiders, cockroaches and ants are chewed.
Dawn till dusk, they look to feast,
a soft, small carnivore, a tiny little beast.
Close to extinction, a tragic demise,
feral foxes are killing them before our own eyes.
Habitat loss and fires play their cue,
because of the mishaps, the species is few.
So, make a change in life for the dibblers to survive,
preventing predators will help them stay alive.
Or maybe help to donate, a dollar or two will do,
to make them live even longer, the choice is up to you!
