Distant rumble of tide,
She runs to shelter,
Nothing much that covers,
Not in this disaster.
Cattle submerged or dead,
Soil torn from home,
Erosion but sped up,
Like never seen before.
Destruction all around,
She trumpets in fright,
This is all she can do,
Her home has been ruined.
Years of nature’s hard work,
Torn to shreds by water,
Houses, territories,
They’ll never be the same.
Life savings and waiting,
Hours of effort,
Just for a day like this,
Only with disaster.
