The Future

In the future
I’ll be the next leader of my tribe
(which is a lot of responsibility)
on my shoulders
like a hard rock down
In the future
I want to learn my language
so I can write stories
connect to life,
teach the young ones language.
In the future
I want to have about three kids
(or one or two are good for me too)
In the future
I dream of going round
learning languages of other tribes
In the future
I don’t see animals
I don’t see birds
we’re hunting the ones
that are going to be extinct.
In the future
the sky will look like clouds
rainy, blue
rivers will run dry
(music will have a lot of swearing.)
In the future
my hands will be wrinkly
they will be holding a spear,
a boomerang, a didgeridoo.
The lines on my hands
will be a river flowing
to the ocean.
