The Gift of Dignity

A pen, a sword
They have much in common
The swiftness of sword
The flow of a pen
They can compete,
But nothing can compare
To urge my pen, simply to write
If writing changes the world
Then my pen is the creator, the god
The god of peace, the god of war
The god of declaration between the two
A gift, a notetaker
Like the voice of my soul,
The tongue my pen
My pen and a written word
They hold much power together
As to hold a pen,
It is to be at war
With my thoughts and my soul,
Peace be the paper.
