The Hector's Dolphin

The dolphin dances and plays in the waves
Golden joy shines from the sky above her
A silver beacon in the day
but there are ones who wish to harm her
and ropes begin to unfurl
Nets and knots tangle and harm her
Fishermen ensnare the innocent girl
They do not care that they will kill her
She cries out for help, a voice filled with pain
but her pod is too far away to hear her
She will not be the first one to be slain
There are not enough dolphins like her
to suffer this cruel and unjust fate
so little children are born to those like her
and if we don’t help them it may be too late
