The Lake

The wind blows through the crystal-blue water,
It washes between my toes - it’s as cold as an ice cube,
I walk a little deeper, my hands turn blue as I breathe through the wild wind,
Then I watch the butterflies fly past as I walk and walk until my elbows go under, feeling the swishing freezing water run through me, I put my head under,
I open my eyes and I see the fish swim past, the turtles and the crocodiles talking to each other.
I lift my head, my hair dripping down my back as I feel my clothes sticking to me.
I walk out and sit next to a tree as I slowly dry.
I hear a beep from a car, I don’t know what it is?
But it is my parents coming to pick me up. I wave goodbye to the lake and forest, get in the car and watch nature get smaller and smaller and smaller.
