The Life of Stone

Forming, relaxed
Like a mountain expanding, leisurely,
Deliberately.
Brought to light, uncovered
From the world of darkness and conveyed
To light.
Ink blotches over parchment,
The expansion of splotches through stone – frozen
Forever.
The struggle of shades, dots;
Imperfect but
Flawless.
Colours immaterial, the stone
Unique. Special. Yet
Different.
Time, age, creeping –
Like mould over bread – and eventually,
Rubble.
Just rubble.
Dust.
