The Memory Keeper

Burnt sienna with a clasp of cloud grey
A metallic gold handle which shines like the day
Floral patterns decorate it, rough and uneven
Beautiful like the sun in the evening
But inside the magic starts
Trinkets and treasures are some of the parts
A rose gold necklace, a drawing, a key
They are all so special
So special to me
She listens when I have a frown
And helps me turn it upside down
All the memories that she holds
And as time slowly unfolds
There will be more stories to tell
Stories I would never sell
I don’t know how long memories stay
But she can keep them all at bay
They will never fade from me
Forever with me she will always be
To you she may just be a wooden chest
