The misted river

In moonlight rush, the river waves at me
The surface shimmers like diamonds shattered
A liquid dance, sunlight moving across
While currents sing, the night comes closer
And shadows wander around
The trees line up like ants crawling on the floor
I dip my toes into the cold water
The tiny creatures nibble on my dry skin
Moonlight shimmers on the water
The mist falls like a waterfall washing down my arms
The air gets even more thin and crisp
My throat gets tighter and tighter and tighter
Suddenly thunder hits my eye
The aqua-clear water rotates the other way
As if it is guiding me somewhere
I follow it, leaving muddy footprints behind
I stop, the river stops, silence strikes
