the moon

She comes after sunset
To welcome the night
She calls to those
That play at midnight
She’s just a starry night
Compared to anything bright
When you look at her shimmer
Everything else shatters
Alone she sits in the sky
Guiding those who need her light
Sheltering those whose hearts that cry
But keeping herself locked up tight
How incredible is the moon
Shining brightly in the night sky
But hiding herself at dawn
So you’ll never know if she cries
I’ll tell you once and only once
The story of the moon
Who cries at dawn
But smiles through the night
