The moonlit forest

Moonlight dances through the gaps between the trees
The little creek flows silently as if in a fantasy
The owls just woke and the frogs stop croaking
The foxes start to prowl and the kookaburras stop joking
The tawny frogmouth sings lullabies to soothe her little chicks
And A mother sugar glider glides with her little joeys, six
The cold damp air makes most animals shiver
While some take baths in the freezing river
For the forest is just as alive as day
For the wildlife is busy and the leaves all sway
But when the sun starts rising and the day finally breaks
The birds start chirping and wildlife awakes
But for the other animals and plants alike
Well they’re all going to rest after a big, big night
