The Necklace

The glimmering chain glistens in the light,
Leaving no diamond bland.
It's silver outline, never too dull,
With only sunlight reflecting off it
Lanky and loose,
The necklace dangles from whatever's it's put on.
It's strong look disappears as time goes on
Delicate and frail.
It's smells only of perfume
From months and and years ago.
The essence is so subtle,
So easy to miss.
Hidden inside,
All the secrets and gossip
That one could not tell a soul
