The Numbat's Beauty

Its stripes are full of wonder,

but it gets scared of thunder.

It's only as long as a ruler,

but I promise that it's way cooler.

Have a look in my jaw,

my teeth aren't too able to gnaw.

The amount of us is quite poor,

Though we are protected by law.

We have very strong feet,

but we don't eat meat.

We have special saliva glands,

we also have heavy hands.

We have a very long tail,

but in a fight, we would bail.

We are numbats,

pronounced like wombats.
