The Ozone Inferno

The inferno in the atmosphere blazed like a rampant wildfire,
Its heat scorching my skin with a ferocity dire.
Our savior, the ozone, received no mercy or compassion,
As the fire raged on with unstoppable ferocity.
We sit idly by, with knowledge but no conflict,
As this disturbing matter continues without cessation.
The stench of smoke fills the air, suffocatingly choking,
The taste of danger upon our tongues, ominously provoking.
The ozone, a guardian to the Earth, has saved us thus far,
But an imaginary wind threatens to blow away our protector's star.
The sponge-like shield, once a barrier to the sun's deadly rays,
Now stands fragile, almost depleted from the abuse of our habits.
As the sun strikes with its lethal influence,
The ozone screams out in agony, no one coming to its plight.
The ozone falls, with no one to heed its call,
A blazing fire above us, that no one can stall.
The ozone sizzles, screaming in anguish,
While we pass the blame, with nothing to gain.
The fire rages on, fueled by our own carelessness,
And if we don't act, we'll suffer the same fate, with no hope for redress.
